Deciding I'm With Her

Like a lot of you, I’ve been feeling pretty disillusioned with the candidates this election cycle.  I know politics and campaigns can get pretty nasty, but this year has topped any year in recent history.  Between the vile, misogynistic and discriminatory language coming from the Trump campaign and the shadiness and dishonesty surrounding the Clinton campaign, even I was starting to avoid discussions surrounding the candidates – primarily because I didn’t want to have to fight anyone.

Which is why I was surprised to find myself feeling proud this week, as our country nominated the first woman candidate for President.  Suddenly, all the controversy surrounding Clinton didn’t seem to matter as much as the glass ceiling she’s worked so hard to shatter.  For just a brief moment she wasn’t Hillary with the email scandals, and Benghazi hanging over her head – she was Hillary, the first woman candidate to be nominated for President – and in that moment, I was proud.  Proud of the fact that although we have a long way to go, we’ve come so far since women first gained the right to vote in 1920.  Proud of the fact that my four year old niece lives in a world where a Black man is President and a woman may be next.  Proud of the fact that my gender just took a giant leap forward.

So my question to you this week is three-fold: First, I would like to know “Do you think this country is ready for a woman President?”  Second, I would like you to take this quiz, which will ask you about your thoughts on certain topics, and then tell you which candidate most closely matches your own viewpoints.  It also allows you to tell it how important an issue is to you. You can access the quiz here:  https://www.isidewith.com/                       Then tell me Which candidate’s viewpoints did the quiz match you up with?  Did that surprise you, or were you already planning to vote for that person?”

You must answer all three parts to earn full credit.  Answers are due no later than Wednesday, August 3rd, 2016.

  1. So I took the test and I got Trump. No, I wasn't shocked in who I got.

  2. I shouldn't matter what gender a president is just how ready are they to do the job they are running to do. I got Hillary, I'm neither shock nor not surprised because I didn't know who I was going to get considering I do not know much about politics.

  3. i actually got Jill Stein. im a little surprised because I didn't know she was running for president but after comparing mine and her answers it was a 96 percent match. also I don't think skin or gender matters to who runs the country just as long as they have a grand head on their shoulders and has a since of selflessness and commonsense.

  4. Yes, I think the country is ready for a woman president because the shadiness and dishonesty surrounded the Clinton campaign. The quiz is matching me up with Hillary Clinton on immigration, foreign policy, healthcare, social, science, and environmental issues. I am so surprised that I got Hillary Clinton.

  5. I do believe that we are ready for a woman president, I believe that she is going to make just as many claims, and bad decisions for the country as the rest of the presidents did, because she is a human who doesn't actually face commoner problems, not because shes a woman. Only a handful of our presidents actually knew what it was like to be BROKE, and that is always going to be an issue. I really think she is a much better decision than Trump, and anyone who has and unbiased brain capacity that works above the comparison to the poverty line in America can agree with that. I wasn't really surprised at who I was matched with, other than me not really recognizing who she was, Jill Stein. Hillary was the next choice right behind her and that obviously wasn't surprising. However, yes, I believe we are ready as our own Independent country to have a woman president. Honestly, its not gender that bothers me, women can do nearly everything while maintaining a much harder look to upkeep. not to mention half of the year their uterus lining is shedding causing all sorts of cramps and whatnot, yet they still pull of things that "MEN" do. Their are things I believe you all get a bit more emotional about naturally, however Trump is still worse(A BUSINESS TYCOON RUNNING THE COUNTRY?!!!). HELLO NEWS FLASH, IS IT NOT OBVIOUS THAT EARTH/MOTHER NATURE ITSELF IS SO FAR AWAY FROM A BUSINESS DECISION ITS NOT EVEN FUNNY! That alone helps my choice 1st. 2nd, Hillary I don't totally agree with in every aspect of policies, and people who don't like her probably have good reason, shes obviously something like her husband. Even with all that being said, in the end, shes probably the best decision for what we are already ruining or has already been ruined anyway.

  6. Coming from a woman's perspective, I feel we are sensitive as it is. I'm not saying we can't/won't be able to deliver as president but, all we see and know of her is what she chooses to show us. Say she's menopausal one day, is she gonna let her emotions dictate a decision that needs to be made?? Yes, I understand that history will be made (again) however for me, it's concerns of the unknown (again a woman), just saying. That being said, I "sided with" Hillary Clinton. I'm not surprised because, although I stand on what I said, we agree on a lot of the same issues...81% to be exact:)

  7. When thinking about if we are ready for a woman to be president i think in a way we are ready because she was the first lady and she knows a little bit more about running. When I took the test i got Hillary, I was not really shocked because I am not a trump supporter. I matched 85% with her. I don't really want to get into why i would vote for her because its my own thoughts.

  8. I certainly think this country can handle a woman president, as I feel there are enough men and women that would support Clinton by this point. Times have already changed with having an African American president so I feel like it would only be predictable for that momentum to continue. I sided most with Hillary at 83%, which honestly doesn't surprise me because I feel like I would have sided with her out of elimination of the other candidates. I am very interested in seeing where she can take this country. I feel as though she has the strongest drive and the most passion of all the other candidates, and I admire that.

  9. Yes I think the country is ready for a woman president, I don't think it will make much difference at all whether it is a man or woman. After taking the quiz I was matched up with Jill Stein. I was definitely surprised because I have no idea who that is. Anybody but Hillary!! -Corey Music

  10. I side with Jill Stein on most 2016 Presidential Election issues. I don't know who is she but the result showed that i have 75% match with her opinions. I think this country should ready for the next revolution, woman leader. I will never vote for Trump because of vile, misogynistic and discriminatory language coming from him.

  11. I feel like the county is ready for a women president, i think it would make women and girls my age feel like they can do anything they think of. i think it would be great for a women that has a strong mind to run the country . i was match up with Hillary Clinton. i happy with that match i would never vote for a person that i would think could put us in a bigger hole .

  12. I definitely think a woman as president is exactly what this country needs. Let's make history again. My viewpoints matched directly with Hillary Clinton. This really didn't surprise me at all. I was already planning to vote for Hillary as President. - Jared Shaw

  13. I absolutely do not think Americas is ready for a woman president let alone that person be Hilary. Hilary is a crook and a liar and half of those people are voting for her because she is a woman but Trump isn't even worst, he signalizes people of a certain origin and background. One might call that a bully but I would call that a racist ( I call it like it is). The results I received was that I sided with Jill Stein we have similar thinking when it comes to social, foreign policy, and immigration. My results did surprise me because I don't really know much about Jill. I am not registered to vote nor do I EVER plan on voting, especially in this country (there are several reasons why-but I won't rant).

  14. I think the country is ready for a woman president, my view point sides more with Hillary I'm not really surprised. I consider myself more of a conservative and I agree with some of her policies but don't know how I feel about her scandals.

  15. I think this country is never ready for big change, but we need it, and Hillary Clinton is big one. I'd vote some who trying to better the country in all aspects. The quiz said I'd match best with some woman named Jill, I don't recognize that mane. So wouldn't vote for her. Not until I do my research.

  16. The quiz said I matched best with Jill. Never heard of her, I don't pay attention to politics. And honestly, "Do you think the country is ready for a woman president?" is a dumb question. It's just a gender.. but tbh Hilary is a pathetic excuse for not just a woman, but a person.

  17. I matched 92% with Donald Trump.. No surprise there. #TRUMP2016 #TrumpTrain

This country may be ready for a woman, but Hilary is NOT that woman. She is a criminal. How can anyone vote for her? She changes her stance on political issues JUST TO GET THE VOTE. All she cares about is the POWER SHE posseses. She has anyone and everyone killed who gets in her way or jeapordizes her race for power. She has proved she is above the law by being involved in all of these scandals and gotten away with EVERY SINGLE BIT of it. A few years ago, she was called black males predators, now you're all supporting her! A few years ago she was against gay marriage, now she's all for it. Also, this is a personal issue I have; she supports up to 36 WEEK abortions!!! Babies EVERY DAY are born at 36 weeks and are perfectly healthy! How can someone be consciously okay with that? Madi in the post above said it perfectly, Hilary is a pathetic excuse for not just a woman, but a person.

  18. Yes, i think that the country needs a woman president although i do not think gender has anything to do with the presidency. Hilary is just a criminal. I got Bernie, i am not surprised. I voted for him, and I was extremely sad that he wasn't able to go through the voting process.

  19. I personally do not care if the president is a Zebra as long is the country gets led in the right direction, different perspective should not be solely gender based.
