Let's Vote!

Last week in class we discussed political parties and what each party’s platform is.  As we move into election season (am I the only one excited?!?) it will be important for you to know which party and which candidate you most closely align with.  So with that being said, this week’s blog will be a little different.

First, I would like you to take this quiz, which will ask you about your thoughts on certain topics, and then tell you which candidate most closely matches your own viewpoints.  It also allows you to tell it how important an issue is to you. You can access the quiz here:  https://www.isidewith.com/

My question to you this week is, “Which candidate’s viewpoints did the quiz match you up with?  Did that surprise you, or were you already planning to vote for that person?”  Answers are due no later than Wednesday, October 28th, 2015.

P.S.  If you or someone you know needs to register vote, you can register here:

Let your voice be heard!

  1. The quiz ended up matching me up with Bernie Sanders a candidate who I seen myself voting for as well as sharing viewpionts and concrete ideals with.He seems to bring a certain genuine political perspective that is not only trusting but believable. Many politicians rely to utilize gimics, slander and subject diversion to alleviate pressure of voters asking crucial questions to critical topics that plague this country. I agree with Bernie Sanders in which this country needs to address the drunken aunt at the party. Avoiding the obvious issues in public is simply a tactic that needs to removed and replaced with the truth and conviction of an individual willing to make change despite the criticism of many whether they are peers or enemies. I can only hope that the most worthy of candidates is chosen for this country and my results only showcase who I believe that to be.

  2. After taking the quiz, it ended up matching me up with Bernie Sanders, a candidate who I was already interested in voting for. We share similar viewpoints in the environment, social, science, economy and education. I only hope that the Nation will take into consideration that what Bernie is for is the real deal, and we need to take action on these issues before its too late.

  3. The results of my points of view from the Isidewith quiz match me up most with Bernie Sanders. I didn't had anything to be surprised about, because i don't follow up much on political news and I don't know every political candidate's views and beliefs. I also, for my own personal reasons and beliefs don't vote for presidential election. I am against nobody, i just don't vote.

  4. After taking the isidewith quiz, I was surprised with my result being Donald Trump. Although I don't normally keep up with presidential debates and most of the viewpoints from each candidate, I was a little befuddled on having similar beliefs with a candidate I dislike.

  5. The quiz ended up matching me up with Bernie Sanders. Bernie says that we are a "nation of immigrants. That is, in fact, the strength of America." He believes the US must create an immigration system that invites greater innovation, diversity, and economic opportunity for both American-born citizens and the people who want to make this land their home. Bernie supports immigration reform that will address the legal status of the 11 million undocumented people. I like the fact that Bernie Sanders supports immigration system.

  6. Somehow I got matched up with Donald Trump. I was not planning on voting for hom so I was surprised. Donald Trump is all talk and publicity. I don't think he knows that much if anything about political issues. He says whatever he wants without thinking about his audience which is huge. He makes the presidential election look like a joke, especially when he is winning in the current polls.

  7. After taking the quiz I was matched up with Bernie Sanders, which was not a surprise, and Hilary Clinton was the next candidate in line. My vote was between Sanders and Clinton but recently I've decided to go with Sanders. At this point though I am not completely tuned into the election and what all the candidates from each parties particular beliefs are. I usually don't get into the election until the official democrat and republican candidates are selected to go head to head for the election.

  8. My match is Donald Trump. I'm not surprised because I tend to lean toward republican. I have not made up my mind on who I will vote for but this was very helpful.

  9. I matched with Bernie Sanders 95% as I agreed with most of his views and ideas. I wasn't particularly surprised - much of my views are Marxist socialist in nature. I wouldn't consider myself a liberal, but I am left-leaning. Admittedly, I am also a little jaded towards the presidential election process. It always seems like choosing between the lesser of two evils, something I feel is impossible to escape when dealing with politicians. I remember being very invested in bringing Obama into office, yet still finding Obama with his finger on the button for issues I am rigidly against such as the use of drones as weapons against terrorist organizations (I understand the need for drones as intelligence-gathering devices, but feel there is a misuse in how they are utilized).

  10. After taking the quiz I was matched with Hilary Clinton, who I share 93% of the same view points and Bernie Sanders a close second with 91%. I wasn't surprised that I was matched with these candidates. As for as voting goes I don't plan on voting for Hilary Clinton because I have it in my mind that Bill will be in her ear during her whole term. Bernie Sanders has fresh ideas and a clear view for the future. So I would consider voting for him way before Hilary Clinton.

  11. After taking the quiz I was matched with Bernie Sanders. I share 80% of the same view points. I honestly only knew of Hilary Clinton and Donald Trump, that were running for presidency only from social media sites. That is sad I know. I don't watch the news or TV really so I didn't even know of Bernie. We seem to have a lot of topics in common so if I were to vote I would vote for him. I need to do more research on him to be for sure about that.

  12. The candidate it matched me with was Hillary Clinton. This does surprise me because I was leaning more towards Bernie Sanders but some of his views have underlying socialist meanings

  13. After taking the quiz I was matched with Bernie Sanders. I shared 84% interest with him. Do I find it surprising? I guess. I never really kept up with this political race. I had seen other people mention him on social media. I never really thought about who I was going to vote for. I guess since I side with him on views voting for him would be a good thing, right?

  14. After taking the quiz I matched with Bernie Sanders. I shared 90% of the same view points as him. The next candidate I matched with was Hillary Clinton. I was not surprised to match with Bernie because I have watched and heard him on different shows talking about his views and so far I have been agreeing with him during the race for presidency.

  15. After taking the quiz, I sided 83% with Bernie Sanders. I hadn't looked too deeply into the candidates yet so I can't say I'm surprised, I'm just glad to know my views sit closely to a candidate as well as many more of my peers. I would have to read further into the top few matches on each specific issue before I decided to vote myself but this was a great tool to help you know where to start looking and organize their views and opinions.

  16. After taking the quiz my results show I share 96% of the same viewpoints with Bernie Sanders. This does not surprise me because I plan on voting for Bernie. I really like his enthusiasm and respect his decision to not let PACs and Super PACs influence his election. Other reasons I plan on voting for Bernie include I believe he will bring much needed change to the country and I always enjoy rooting for the underdog.

  17. After taking the test I matched with Hillary Clinton, I shared 85% of the same point on views with Hillary. I'm not surprised personally I want Hillary Clinton to be president of the united states. Because I am an Democratic and support most of her point of views beliefs.

  18. I shared 90% with Bernie Sanders and I was pleasantly surprised. I was in a toss up between him and Hillary and now I think I will defiantly vote for him.

She actually was the second candidate that i with the most similar views. I was going to vote for Hillary so i was ver surprised to find out Bernie was much like her.

  21. I was matched to Rubio, and I am not really sure how steadfast I was in some of the questions. When it comes to foreign policy and healthcare, I don't really have an opinion. I think most should be able to experience America and affordable healthcare, but not all. Maybe I view our country stance as privilege instead of a right.
