Giving Thanks!

Now, I think I have made it clear in class that Thanksgiving is not my favorite holiday. I don't like the way schools fictionalize a story that sounds good, while ignoring the sad facts about how we really treated Native Americans in this country. That being said, I have learned to treat Thanksgiving as a reminder of all the things I am thankful for.

This year, as always, I am thankful for my faith, my family and my friends.  I'm healthy and generally happy, and I am surrounded by people who love me. I grateful that I am able to get paid doing things I love to do.  Yes - when all is said and done, I have it pretty good.  I hope I never lose sight of that, and always continue to be thankful for what I have.
So, in honor of the holiday my question to you this week will be an easy one. "What are you thankful for this holiday season?" Answers are due no later than Wednesday, December 2nd, 2015.  Please note that you have two weeks to finish this blog due to the holiday.  There will be NO class on Thursday, November 26th! I hope all of you have a wonderful holiday full of good food, good friends and good conversation! Enjoy your break!

  1. Im grateful that we will not be having glass this week. I also am thankful that i am caught up in all my class. I am also thankful that the blog was pretty short and easy this week. This make it easy to enjoy my break, and focus my attention on important things that have been slipping away from me.

I am also thankful for the tons of food i am going to consume on thanksgiving day! Thanksgiving for me is about food and family and having a good time with the ones you love, nothing else matters that day.

  5. I am thankful for life in general. There is so much happening in the world today. There is a lot that we take for granted. Like being able to safely enjoy the holidays. I am thankful that we have these opportunities to reflect on the year and enjoy the company of our loved ones. I'm thankful to be in a place that allows me to just sit back and enjoy life the way it was intended, with love, peace, and good food. Happy Thanksgiving folks!!!

  7. I'm thankful for the friends and family I've come to know and grow close to in recent months. They've given me strength and support when I most need it and are always there to have my back. I'm thankful for life in general and the happiness I've experienced going through life.

  8. I'm thankful for the obvious things: friends, family, a roof over my head. I figure that goes without saying, but I think one of the things I'm most thankful for this year is art. Over the course of this year art has played a huge role in keeping me sane, so I'm very thankful for it.

  9. I am thankful for my ever so loving family and the friends that have stuck by my side for many years. They are absolutely the best and I am lucky to have people like them in my life. I wouldn't trade any of the care they've provided for anything in the world. Happy Thanksgiving!

  10. This holiday season I am thankful for my family because I really wouldn't be as successful as I am now without them. I am also thankful for my faith and having a pretty fortunate life because it could all be a lot worse. I often remind myself that I could be living a life in a third world country with no food to eat or clean water and a bed to sleep in. So overall I am very thankful for having the life that I have.

  11. Of all the things I can think of it's very simple to say I appreciate family, friends and those who've played a significant role in my life for better or worse. I grasped the concept gratitude long ago and consistently on a daily basis I contemplate on this misfortune of others and what I would do in a position of power and influence to impact their life. These thoughts help aid in my self-motivation to achieve my personal ambition and the goals I set for myself to accomplish. I myself come from Cherokee descent and I am knowledgeable of the history that entails but I restrain myself from thinking about it because it only brings about anger and frustration due to who's in power, privilege and influence in today's Northern american society. To hate or slip into a volatile state is a waste of energy and effort when the past easily displays the inevitable karmic future. Thanksgiving and other atrocious acts are sure to get admittance of wrongdoing and historical truth because it'll play huge part in american progression and potentially cease to advertising an easygoing holiday for marketable purposes. Be aware, grateful, and be happy with your life or make a change in order for it to become something to be grateful for.

  14. I am thankful for my supportive family, friends, customers and even strangers that I've told my dreams to that look up to me and support me and see me as an inspiration not only to young adults and teens, but also to adults in general. I have been wanting to be a fashion designer for over 10 years, I have commuted a 2 hour drive to college 2 to 3 times a week for three and a half years. It hasn't been easy and I don't think many people would have done that. But I've realized that I'm strong, devoted, creative and dedicated to my ultimate dreams and goals. I just accepted an internship in NYC starting in January and there's no way I could have gotten there or where I am today if I didn't have the support system that I have. I am forever grateful to those who have encouraged me to keep pushing towards my dreams!

  15. This year and season I am thankful for many things: First, while the paris attacks were going on my sister was in Paris regarding a business meeting, she wasn't hurt, and is alive. Second, I am thankful for finally getting a job at a high-end boutique to gain experience, knowledge, and built network regards to my field of study, fashion design. Third, I am thankful for that me, my family, and a lot of people who weren't victims in the paris attacks are alive today. I am thankful for my life and would like to make the most out of it, as we do get it once in a lifetime.

  19. i am thankful for just being able to be alive and experience things that many people in the world don't have freedom to experience. people take for granted minor things that to others come with sacrifice, simple things like having a comfortable bed or even a roof to sleep under. people worry about not having luxuries or but others sacrifice their lives just to be able to have a simple one bedroom place to house their whole family in.

  20. I am thankful for the experiences I have had and the people I have shared them with. I also think about how grateful I am to have the opportunity to attend school without taking out loans. Most of all I am thankful for the health of myself and my loved ones, not sure what I would do without them through this journey.

  22. I am thankful now and always for my family, the one I had a hand in created. My wife is my driving force, she keeps grounded and is funny and cute, I love her to death, not in a creepy way. And my son who is almost one now (this is late) is a little me, just way lighter skinned. I see myself in him already, his attitudes and the way he walks, I love him more than life itself, and I hope that the next child is as well behaved as he is at such an early age.
